Letter: First Arenex, then recycling depot, then Canada Games Pool? New West has troubles

One resident questions the city's losses
Canada Games Pool Dec 6
The closure of Canada Games Pool is just the latest in a string of problems that have befallen New West, says this letter writer.

Editor:

I think a few people at city hall carried the same books to school for more than one year. This group brought you the Arenex roof that couldn't hold a snowfall, the recycling depot promised in a year and now a very mysterious "leak" in the Canada Games Pool tank? Agatha Christie would love this.

The bean-counting accountants may have thought a quick closure would save some dough and make reconstruction easier. Closing the fitness facilities because the pool isn't functioning is a ruse. Maybe the head of parks and rec has a better answer to this than I do? Blaming it on heavy rain that didn't come until after the closure? The game is afoot, Sherlock.

Editor's note: The city announced on Nov. 24 that the Canada Games Pool will remain closed permanently. For a closer look at the reasons behind the pool closure, you can find background in this story here.
