Salmonbellies sink Lakers with strong third

A strong third period decided an otherwise testy encounter with the junior A Burnaby Lakers. The New Westminster Salmonbellies erupted for five goals in a seven-minute span to down the Lakers 13-9 at the Bill Copeland Sports Centre on Friday.

Pink bat fundraiser to become annual event

The Lower Mainland Baseball Association collected more than $6,500 in donations from its Mother's Day fundraising weekend benefiting cancer research. All 16 league games featured pink wooden bats supplied by Merv Sandrel, owner of Ball Park Sports.
