Ontario stole the gold medal from Team B.C. in the final of the midget girls' Canadian lacrosse championships at Queen's Park Arena Thursday.

B.C. went into the gold-medal match with an unblemished 6-0 record in tournament play, including earlier 5-4 and 4-2 wins over the Ontario all-stars in the round-robin play.

New Westminster's Jenna Chernoff assisted on teammate Kaity Vanderkoy's goal in the middle period that shaved one goal off a 3-0 deficit.

Reagan Eaton and Taylor Quaife shared the goaltending duties for Team B.C. But Ontario's Melissa Harris, who was in goal for the team's 5-4 loss to B.C. in the opening game of the championships, was near perfect, stopping 25 of 26 shots fired her way.

In the bantam girls' final, Team B.C. was edged 4-3 by Ontario in the gold-medal also played Thursday.

Burnaby's Amie Morrison gave the home province a 2-1 lead after the opening 20 minutes with her second goal of the championships.

But Ontario struck back with a natural hat trick from Peterborough's Alexis Kinmond.

Kaitlin Tse scored the game-winning tally midway through the final frame.

Burnaby's Jolene Robinson got one goal back minutes later, potting her team-leading fifth goal from Morrison and Megan Kinna.

Bianca Ballarin of New Westminster faced 22 shots in the B.C. team goal.
