The jokes were flowing, pardon the pun, last week when Stage 1 water restrictions were instituted in the Lower Mainland - including New Westminster. No wonder.

It’s going to be fascinating and, at times, amusing, to watch how this province’s two major political parties deal with the upstart new kid on the block: the B.C. Green Party.

Heritage in New Westminster. It’s complicated. For some folks it feels like it’s overwhelming and there is way too much attention given to it.

Dear Editor: I have known and respected Lindsay Meredith for a long time, but his analysis of last week’s election smacks of petty hostility and cynicism. No, people who voted for the B.C.

Dear Editor: I read with intrigue Jim Hutson’s opinion piece, “Heritage plan makes sense,” and so I feel there is a need to respond in kind.

No matter which party forms the next government in this province, the election results show the rural-urban divide that emerged from the 2013 election has become wider and perhaps more entrenched than ever before.

Whatever the outcome of the election (I’m writing this column 48 hours before the polls closed on voting day) it will likely have a profound impact on the shape of the provincial economy.

Dear Editor: After reading your article last week regarding the implementation of a heritage conservation area in Queen’s Park, I feel the need to respond to a couple of comments included in the piece.

Dear Editor: I am a Queen’s Park resident who is opposed to this neighbourhood being declared a heritage conservation area.

Dear Editor: The comments attributed to Ms. Brett during the all-candidates meeting are really a slap in the face to those who live in New Westminster.
