Dear Editor: I was troubled to read in the Record (June 23, 2017), that tenants at 322 Seventh St. have been given two-month eviction notices to allow for “major renovations.” The renoviction nightmare looks to have found its way to New Westminster.

Let’s be clear. There will be no honeymoon period for the new NDP-Green party coalition government.

Just for one day, put it all aside. Forget squabbling over partisan politics and fretting over budgets and arguing over the best way to solve the hot-button issues of the moment. Instead, take a moment to think about why you’re lucky to be in Canada.

It appears this province is going to get a new government and guess what: the sky will not fall and the sun will still come out (well, occasionally). There seems to be a lot of nervous handwringing going on as the B.C.

I too attended that meeting on June 13 at Century House to address the rights and needs of tenants facing renovictions. It soon became obvious that the real question everyone had was if anything can be done in time to help those that were there.

Dear Editor: I read the article by Theresa McManus “Fed up with Front Street” (June 8) with mixed feelings. On the one hand, thank you, Ms. McManus, for writing about it.

Nobody said she wasn’t crafty. Christy Clark has decided long-defended Liberal policies are perfectly disposable if she believes she can squeeze out more time as premier.

Premier Christy Clark named her new cabinet last week, but it should be the shortest-serving cabinet in memory, as her government is expected to lose a confidence vote on June 29 and thus fall from power.

I am gutted, as I’m sure everyone in my building is. I feel sick about what I am going to do about an affordable home in the very near future.
