Three more cats have had to be euthanized after contacting a virus at the New Westminster Animal Shelter. The City of New Westminster is taking action to contain an outbreak of calicivirus at the Queensborough shelter.

Royal City residents can get a jump on Saturday's civic election at today's advanced voting. Advanced voting takes place today (Tuesday, Nov. 15) from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in council chambers at New Westminster City Hall.

Voice New Westminster candidates vying for seats on city council received more contributions than their school board counterparts. The slate's five school board candidates announced Monday that they had received campaign donations totaling $1,300.

While civic election candidates don't need to release their financial details until after the election, Voice New Westminster school trustees have already released their financial contributions list.

New Westminster police have arrested a man they say is responsible for two robberies on Friday, Nov. 11. Police responded to a report of a robbery at a small market in the 700 block of Columbia Street just before 4 p.m.

Change is in the winds at the New Westminster Chamber of Commerce, as the board is now looking to hire a new executive director.
