You may remember him best as a “Kid in the Hall” – and now Bruce McCulloch is bringing his newest show to New West. The Canadian comedian-writer-director is bringing his Young Drunk Punk show to Lafflines Comedy Club on Saturday, Oct. 1.

Fifteen years ago, Ellie King brought the comedic mystery It Was a Dark and Stormy Night to the stage at the Burr Theatre. Today, the Burr is no more – but King is bringing the play back to the stage with her Royal Canadian Theatre Company.

Two New Westminster performers came home from the recent Community Theatre Coalition Awards with top honours for their work in The It Girl last year.

The Vagabond Players are opening their season with a world premiere of a work by a local playwright. Body and Soul, by Elizabeth Elwood, runs from Oct. 6 to 29 at the Bernie Legge Theatre in Queen’s Park.

Some familiar New West faces will be featured when Word Vancouver hits the streets Sept. 21 to 25. The annual literary festival runs at a variety of locations around Vancouver, culminating in a Sunday full of activities around Library Square.
