It was an evening of fun and games and all for a good cause. École Qayqayt Elementary School’s parent advisory council (PAC) hosted its first-ever spring carnival last week, and it was a great success.

Child-care rally planned for Saturday

For the fifth year in a row, Const. Jamie Crowston was recognized for his work getting drunk drivers off city streets. Crowston was one of two New Westminster police officers named to the 2016 Alexa’s Team – the other officer was Const. Lisa Bolour.

New Westminster students showed their flair for art during this year’s Heritage Week contest. Each year, the City of New Westminster holds a colouring contest for kindergarten to Grade 3 students and a poster contest for Grade 4 and 5 students.

Accessing farm fresh eggs from the backyard could soon become the norm for many New West residents. That’s because U.S.-based company Rent The Chicken is hoping to break into the Royal City market.

This is part one of a two-part story featuring Waffle House founder Susan Chew, whose life in New Westminster in the 1940s and '50s recall a bustling little city where a young entrepreneur could really make an impression.

Queen’s Park was hopping on Easter Sunday. Sunny skies brought families out in droves for the city’s annual Easter in the Park, which featured a petting farm, crafts, face painting, entertainment and the popular photos with the Easter bunnies.
