Uptown Dawg: a whole lot more than dog daycare

A five-star dog daycare and boarding facility? Try five paws!

“When I started Uptown Dawg in 2005, I wanted to design a fun environment where dogs could stay and socialize safely with other dogs,” says Uptown Dawg owner and founder, Shannon O’Reilly. “We’re a dog daycare and boarding facility where dogs can stay, play, be groomed, train and hike safely and comfortably. We want the dogs to look forward to coming here.”

The family-owned business is the leading cage-free dog daycare and boarding facility in Vancouver. Offering services like grooming, training, and their uber-popular Adventure Walks, Uptown Dawg has evolved into a one-stop shop for all your dog’s needs.

So what do the dogs think of this high-touch, highly-social, fun-based approach to dog care?

“Our customers often tell us how excited their dogs get when they hear the word “daycare,” says O’Reilly, laughing. “The dogs know how much our staff loves them!”

Staff treat the dogs like their own, she adds, even staying overnight with them when required.

“Whatever it takes to keep the dogs comfortable and safe,” she says.

Customers like Lisa Liberatore agree. Like many of Uptown Dawg’s regulars, she refers to the staff as “Aunties” and the facility as her dog’s “second home”.

“We just keep focused on providing the best care possible,” says O’Reilly. “Honestly, it’s as much fun for us as it is for the dogs.”

After opening their first location more than a decade ago, demand for their amazing suite of dog care services soon led to expansion. Today, Uptown Dawg has locations in Port Moody, home to their overnight facility, New Westminster and Coquitlam.

Deeply connected to the communities they serve, O’Reilly and her staff often take part in community activities that involve animals.

“It’s important for us to play an active role in our communities,” she says, “particularly as it pertains to dogs.”
