Dear Editor: I would like to say how sorry I am to hear that Bella Cakes has been sold. Fabio, Gina and staff have worked so hard over the years by renovating their store which improved the street and welcoming you as you walked through their doors.

In Canada, we tend not so much to be the rah, rah, ain't-we-wonderful kind of people that you might find in other parts of the world. We're more likely to consider ourselves lucky, or maybe privileged.

Charging parking fees at hospitals is more than an inconvenience. It's more than a minor annoyance for folks visiting loved ones confined to a hospital bed.

Dear Editor: To the victor goes the spoils, cheered New York Senator William Marcy on news of Andrew Jackson election victory in 1828. Marcy wasn't kidding.

Dear Editor: It's welcome news that the premier has rescinded the large pay increases for political staff appointed by individual cabinet ministers.

The province's MLAs take their place in the legislature this week, and 34 of them come back into the house with a giant dark cloud hovering over them.

Dear Editor: Re: Voice trustees feel shut out of school district process, The Record, June 19. "What is significant is not the philosophy one professes to have, but the philosophy one is putting into practice.

It was a good news story as far as open windows and children go. Last week a passerby in New York caught a child as the child plunged from an apartment balcony two storeys above.
