Dear Editor: I have lived across the (narrow, residential) street from a New Westminster public elementary school for 30 years.

When New Westminster’s Army and Navy store papered its windows after a fire on July 27, the city was abuzz with speculation that the retail department store would not reopen.

Dear Editor: I agree that taking the tolls off the Port Mann and Golden Ears Bridges was the right thing to do. This could actually help to stimulate our economy as more people use these bridges. But wait a minute.

As the B.C. Liberal leadership race lurches into action – the first candidates’ debate was this past weekend – it is worth remembering that such contests can be more divisive than not.

Recent statistics from the police and ICBC make it clear drivers are still not getting the message when it comes to distracted driving.
