Quite often library users are surprised to find out that almost 350 magazines are available at the New Westminster Public Library, and they can be borrowed like any book, CD or DVD.

At an open house for the Glenbrooke North neighbourhood in 2008, residents described themselves as "the poorer next door neighbour to Queen's Park," according to a city report.

Nestor Berg, 72, can remember when parts of Glenbrooke North were dense forest and there was little traffic. He and his neighbourhood friends would hit the dusty streets, looking for fun. "We used to go everywhere on our bicycles," Berg recalls.

Many future great Salmonbellies honed their stick skills with neighbourhood games of pick-up lacrosse on the sleepy side streets of Glenbrooke North. That's how lifelong Glenbrooke resident Derrick Thornhill remembers it.
