What's happening at city hall

You’re invited to join local residents for a picnic on the lawn of New Westminster City Hall while watching the council meeting on a big screen.

1. Head downtown for the return of Fridays on Front, which features food trucks, live music, a market of artisan vendors, and a chance to enjoy a beer or glass of wine while soaking up the ambiance of the Front Street Mews.

Queen’s Park and the waterfront were a sea of red and white on Canada Day. The City of New Westminster’s annual festivities in Queen’s Park included family-friendly activities and an afternoon of entertainment on the bandshell stage.

Thousands of people took part in the Nagar Kirtan procession in Queensborough on Sunday. The religious procession commemorated one of the Sikh gurus, Guru Arjan Dev Ji.

1. Take in some exciting lacrosse action between the New Westminster Salmonbellies and the Victoria Shamrocks at Queen’s Park Arena on Saturday, June 29. The Junior A teams will play at 12:30 p.m. and the Seniors will face off at 5 p.m.

Spotlight on: New Westminster Museum

A dunk tank and a pie-eating contest were part of the fun at the kickoff for Legion Week. The annual event is held to raise awareness about the work done by the Royal Canadian Legion.
