Two council members made an important list. What list?

The Forum for Millennial Leadership wants you to know that 31 candidates under 40 were elected as mayors and councillors in the weekend’s election – 26 in Metro Vancouver and five in the Fraser Valley.

The Forum for Millennial Leadership wants you to know that 31 candidates under 40 were elected as mayors and councillors in the weekend’s election – 26 in Metro Vancouver and five in the Fraser Valley. 

New Westminster Mayor Jonathan Cote, 39, and councillor-elect Nadine Nakagawa, 35, made the list.

“Between Metro Vancouver and the FVRD, a total of 100 candidates under 40 ran in Saturday's elections,” said an email from the group. “Progress was made toward electing younger municipal officials, but there is still a long way to go before young people are adequately represented in a region that is among the largest concentrations of millennials in Canada.”
