Last year’s B.C. runnerup, New West is taking aim at another run for the Minto Cup, which will go next August.

To get there, the Rich Catton-coached ‘Bellies will need to put up some wins along the way.

Their first game of the season is Friday, May 3 when New West visits the Burnaby Lakers. It will only be a few more days wait for their first home date, May 5, when they host the Nanaimo Timbermen.

A big game on the schedule is May 14, when the ‘Bellies host the 2018 Minto Cup champion Coquitlam jr. Adanacs at Queen’s Park Arena. They’ll make a second trip to the Royal City on June 18. Another important game – at least when rivalries matter – is the June 16 game against the Victoria Shamrocks.

Tuesday is the night to rock Queen’s Park, with eight games scheduled for 8 p.m. during the spring and summer. The team also has a Saturday contest – against Victoria – and two on Sunday.

The new season begins on Apr. 26 when the Langley Thunder pay a visit to the PoCo Saints.
