Contact The Record

The New Westminster Record is your go-to choice for news coverage in print and online 24/7 with breaking news, informed opinions and stories that will enlighten you about our community.

The Royal City Record was first published on Oct. 1, 1981 as an eight-page broadsheet newspaper. The newspaper’s founders believed that the city deserved a paper that was dedicated to the oldest city in western Canada. The paper has grown to now be distributed to more than 16,000 homes and businesses in the city on Thursdays. The Record is your news leader with more than 40 fresh stories posted each day – from news to community to entertainment to features to sports. This dedication to our work has led to the Record in 2019 being named Canada’s Best Overall Newspaper in our circulation class by the Canadian Community Newspaper Association, as well as winning the Ma Murray Award for Best Overall Newspaper in our circulation class in both 2018 and 2019.

To assist our crack team of seasoned journalists, we also rely on our readers to tell us what stories are important to them and why.

So contact us and let us know about a great story idea or give some feedback on how we’re doing.

Photos or art:

If you are sending us a photo – please email it to us via editorial@newwestrecord.ca. If it is a photo for our Postcards feature (which includes someone holding an edition of The New Westminster Record) then send it to postcards@newwestrecord.ca. When submitting photos and artwork for reproduction, the files should be 200 dpi in resolution as RGB jpg files. If you have a number of photo files, please pick one sample and indicate that you have others in your email. If you have a large number of files, be they photos, logos, or PDF files, please send an email asking if we need them before sending them. This will avoid, for both parties, large downloads that may not be required.

Calendar of events submissions:

Email them to calendar@newwestrecord.ca. Please include your name and phone number where you can be contacted during the day. Please note: calendars in the newspaper are limited to non-profit groups and/or events. The space is offered free of charge, but there is no guarantee the event item will be published.
