It is something that we just don't see in Canada: Politically inspired gun violence.

M onday, Aug. 20. I came home from work to find a good-sized wolf spider scuttling across the living room floor. He must have been an inch and a half across. I swear, these hairylegged monsters are getting bigger every year.

Dear Editor: Re: Store owner defends selling Nazi trappings, The Record, Aug. 31. Pauly Benton is delusional if he truly believes that by selling Nazi memorabilia that he is helping to ensure that the Holocaust is never forgotten.

Dear Editor: It is time for the provincial New Democratic Party to come clean with the voters of this province and this city. Summer is over and the provincial election is less than a year away.

New Westminster no longer owns a building that's belonged to the city for more than six decades. Last July, the City of New Westminster invited proposals for the purchase and development of the land and building at 57 Sixth St.

Dear Editor: Re: It's a win-win, The Record, Aug. 29. Coun. Bill Harper is touting this as the first city to sign a labour agreement which will extend over four years.

It's time to dust off that old clarinet you've been keeping since high school. The New Westminster and District Concert Band is looking for new members this fall, for its beginner, intermediate and senior levels.

Tenants of an apartment in the Brow of the Hill neighbourhood were woken by fire alarms and police pounding at their doors early last Wednesday morning. A shrub in front of an apartment in the 400 block of Ash Street was destroyed by fire.
