In New Westminster, we're all too familiar with traffic congestion. Our geographic location at the centre of Metro Vancouver means that literally hundreds of thousands of vehicles move through our city each day.

Dear Editor: Bravo, New Westminster city council. Considering we have pretty much the same council we have had for the last decade, this applies to you. The streets, avenues and highways of New West are in the worst shape I can remember.

The biggest part of the B.C. Liberal government's seemingly never-ending overhaul of the province's liquor laws is finally in sight, and it's unclear just what kind of impact it is going to have on consumers.

The ballots haven't even entered the mail stream yet, and the blame game has already begun. We speak, of course, about the transit plebiscite. Metro Vancouver residents will very shortly be voting on whether to accept a 0.

Dear Editor: Regarding the Front Street Parkade, I must confess to have done a complete flip on this one. Many years ago I hated the parkade; to me it looked like a monument to the ’50s car culture.

Dear Editor: As New West expands and towers rise up, council needs to consider more of the amenities that make a city livable and attractive to families.

We are approaching that time of year when many young people's thoughts are turning towards graduation, and their entry into the "real world" after high school.

The transit plebiscite ballots are set to arrive in homes starting next week, which means the campaign over whether or not to hike the sales tax by a half point in Metro Vancouver is really just beginning.
