I was kidding around with NDP leader John Horgan last week, pretending to have trouble saying the words “Premier Horgan” over and over again. He laughed and said he wasn’t used to hearing the title either.

She didn’t play hide-and-seek with reporters or their questions. She didn’t take the opportunity to go after her opponents. She wasn’t defensive or dismissive.

Dear Editor: Re: We are simply gluttons for fresh water, Our View, New West Record , May 25. I would like to present my view. I have noted that over the years our consumption of fresh water per capita has steadily decreased.

It’s been noted by many that this past election was the closest one in British Columbian history, yet in some ways it was anything but close. Sure, the overall popular vote was a virtual tie, as just 1,568 votes separated the B.C.

Dear Editor: Why has The City of New Westminster turned it’s back on the Quayside community? It seems that our folks at city hall have decided that the community at Quayside doesn’t exist.

Dear Editor: Re: Queen’s Park Heritage Conservation. The recent war of words in Queen’s Park regarding heritage conservation has unwittingly uncovered a cancer on municipal politics that has been brewing below the surface for many years.

The jokes were flowing, pardon the pun, last week when Stage 1 water restrictions were instituted in the Lower Mainland - including New Westminster. No wonder.

It’s going to be fascinating and, at times, amusing, to watch how this province’s two major political parties deal with the upstart new kid on the block: the B.C. Green Party.

Heritage in New Westminster. It’s complicated. For some folks it feels like it’s overwhelming and there is way too much attention given to it.
