Dear Editor: In response to last week’s article about planning the new pool, has the mayor thoroughly considered the possibilities of holding future competitive swim events and the benefits to our city?
I have competed in the Seniors Games for several years and have really enjoyed the competitions. A new pool in New Westminster would likely be a draw for the future, not to mention all the Hyacks swim club events that could be hosted here.
When I heard the Canada Games Pool would be rebuilt, I just assumed a competitive-sized facility would take its place. New Westminster is known all over the commonwealth for such a facility. It is shortsighted not to build two more lanes now. Later is too late.
