What anti-mask writer Ana Sandrin fails to mention is that what Dr. Theresa Tam and Dr. Bonnie Henry said about masks not being beneficial in preventing spread of COVID-19 was a year ago. Since then both doctors, following science, have changed that opinion. Judging from my experience in Sechelt and Gibsons, the vast majority of people are following their advice.

I respect Ms. Sandrin’s choice not to wear a mask when she is not in a public place, but when in the presence of others I would expect her to follow the public health orders just as we expect others to abide by speed limits, wear seatbelts, not drive while impaired and many other examples to keep us all safe. It’s really not much to ask for a few more weeks or months.
