Letter: 'Overbearing' tree bylaw unfair to New West homeowners

New West's tree bylaw is too "heavy-handed" to homeowners who just want to safeguard their properties and pedestrians, this writer says.

The Editor:

I agree totally that New West city with its new tree bylaw is too heavy-handed with rules for foliage on private property, in particular of oversized dangerous trees that cause anxiety to homeowners every winter.

We are not developers; we just want to safeguard our properties and pedestrians but are being denied because the tree is over the size allowed, and most homeowners would be shocked at the cost to remove most trees.

City hall should stop being overbearing to homeowners.
