Letter: Could New Westminster use an aerial tram?

This resident shares her "little dream" for uniting lower and upper New West.

Moving on up: Portland, Ore. has an aerial tram — why not New Westminster? This resident thinks it would be a good idea.

Editor:

Stodgy old New Westminster is getting a wake-up call! Maybe I don't agree with all the proposals contained in the Envisioning Lower 12th Street, but I'm happy to see some thought put into the future of our lovely little city.

I have been doing my own little dream — how about building a gondola lift (maybe you call it a cable car, an aerial tram, an aerial trolley) to get me from Upper Town to Lower Town? This would be an easy way to unite the two.

It could also be built in conjunction with the envisioning and designed to leave cars at either end. Every second or third carriage could be made to hold bicycles, wheelchairs or baby strollers.

Have a look at Google — you will be amazed at how many places in the world have such means of raising people for recreation or business!
