Two cyclists were hit in two separate incidents in Langford in recent weeks, including one involving a drunk driver.

A cyclist was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by a Dodge Ram pickup in the parking lot of Canadian Tire in Langford about 2:40 p.m. on April 19.

The 34-year-old driver had his truck impounded after a breath sample showed a blood-alcohol content above the legal limit.

He was also given a driving prohibition and impaired-driving charges are being recommended by police.

The second incident occurred about 11:10 p.m. on April 25, when a cyclist was hit by a left-turning vehicle at the intersection of Veterans Memorial Parkway and Goldstream Avenue.

The cyclist suffered minor injuries, and the driver received a warning rather than a ticket.

Police determined difficult light conditions were a factor.
