Cozying up on a couch with a glass of wine on weekends is a great idea, but here’s something even better — having a flight of wine with the perfect pairing of cheese to go with it.

New West’s Pacific Breeze Urban Winery has curated a flight of select B.C. wines and cheeses that are as perfect for each other as wine is to Friday after-work soiree.

At the wine and cheese pairing, you’ll get to discover how the taste of Boschetto al Tartufo, a semi-firm sheep’s milk cheese (from Tuscany) with white truffle, complements a sip of 2020 Cabernet Franc; or how a sharp-tasting aged Leicester from the U.K. elevates the 2019 Reserve Merlot; besides other combos.

All the cheeses are from Vancouver-based and family-owned and -operated specialty cheese store les amis du FROMAGE; and the wines are from within B.C.

This weekend's pairing sessions are the winery’s way of celebrating B.C. Wine Month (April).

The wine-and-cheese mashups apart, the winery that handcrafts small-lot wines from grapes picked from Okanagan vineyards has been celebrating the province’s wine industry the whole of this month by offering 15 per cent off on B.C. wines.

“We’re celebrating B.C. wine this month by drinking local!” as per the winery’s website.

The wine and cheese pairing will be a 45-minute session, available at 1, 3 or 5 p.m. on Friday, April 28, and Saturday, April 29 (Sunday sessions are sold out) at Pacific Breeze Urban Winery (320 Stewardson Way). A session is priced at $29 (includes 15 per cent service tip).
