Transit Police officers seized an array of weapons and drugs during a three-day anti-crime blitz in and around the Metrotown mall last month.

Police arrested 26 people, recovered thousands of dollars in stolen goods and seized multiple weapons and drugs during a crackdown at Burnaby’s biggest mall last month.

Metro Vancouver Transit Police partnered with Metropolis at Metrotown security to conduct targeted enforcements inside the mall, around the Metrotown SkyTrain station and bus loop, and by nearby businesses on April 13, 19 and 21, according to a police news release Thursday.

Uniformed and plain clothes officers ended up arresting a total of 26 individuals for outstanding warrants, weapons possession, theft, drug trafficking and Motor Vehicle Act violations, according to the release.

Transit police also seized a total of 23 weapons, including 13 knives and two replica firearms as well as 142 grams of fentanyl and six grams  of methamphetamine.

"Given that Metrotown SkyTrain station is the second busiest SkyTrain station by passenger volumes and Metropolis at Metrotown is the largest mall in British Columbia, Transit Police works closely with Metropolis at Metrotown security on reducing crime and providing a safe environment for all," stated the news release.
