New Westminster police are seeking dash cam footage that may help investigation of an armed robbery at the 7-Eleven store on 12th Street.

The New Westminster Police Department hopes the public may be able to help identify a suspect involved in an armed robbery of a convenience store on 12th Street.

A 7-Eleven employee called police after a suspect entered the store, brandished a firearm and threatened to harm him if he didn’t comply with their demands and hand over cash. Following the armed robbery, which occurred about 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 16, the suspect fled north along 12th Street into Burnaby.

“This is extremely concerning for police, and we’re asking the public to help us in identifying a suspect,” said NWPD spokesperson Sgt. Justine Thom in a news release. “If you were driving in the area and have dash cam footage, or the suspect description sounds familiar to you, police are interested in hearing from you.”

The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 35 to 40 years old, 5’7″ tall and medium build. The suspect was last seen wearing a cream-coloured sweater, a cream-coloured baseball hat, and a cream-coloured balaclava that covered his entire face except his eyes.
