Sanjay Kumar said in a news release. “We are in the early stages of this investigation. At this time we do not believe this incident to be related to the Lower Mainland gang conflict, but believe this was a targeted shooting.”

The police department’s major crime unit is leading the investigation, with support from the forensic identification section and other units.  Officers are collecting evidence, CCTV footage and interviewing witnesses.

The New Westminster Police Department is that asking any area residents who have CCTV cameras and have not yet spoken to police to call investigators at 604-529-2430.
