New West police appeal for witnesses after scooter rider struck by truck

New Westminster police are seeking assistance in identifying a truck driver who hit a person on a scooter and did not stop.

A person riding a scooter suffered minor injuries after being struck by a flatbed truck – and police would like assistance in tracking down its driver.

The New Westminster Police Department is appealing for witnesses after a rider of a scooter was injured after being struck on Monday, Nov. 7 at about 1 p.m. near the intersection of Royal Avenue and Blackie Street.

According to the NWPD, the driver of the truck did not stop and continued driving westbound.  Police officers assisted the scooter rider.

“The rider of the scooter suffered minor injuries,” NWPD spokesperson Sgt. Justine Thom said in a news release. “If you witnessed this, or have any dash cam or CCTV footage, we’re asking you to come forward so police can identify the driver of this truck.”

Officers are also canvassing the surrounding area for CCTV footage.
