The New West Farmers Market, seen here in the spring, is cancelled today (Thursday, Oct. 27) because of forecast high winds and rainfall. You can catch the market one more time on Nov. 3.

With extreme weather predicted for today, the New West Farmers Market has cancelled its planned second-to-last market of the season.

The market was scheduled for today (Thursday, Oct. 27) from 3 to 7 p.m. in Tipperary Park.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the region, including New Westminster, that calls for high winds with gusts of up to 80 km/h today. There's also expected to be heavy rainfall around the region, though New Westminster is expected to miss the worst of the rain.

The market returns next Thursday, Nov. 3, for a season-ending session in Tipperary Park, next to city hall.

Along with the regular array of vendors (you can check the list at the New West Farmers Market website), you can also take part in a kitchen gadget exchange — bring your used but good-condition gadgets and exchange them. (No knives or appliances, as per the market's website.)

New Westminster holiday market coming — vendors wanted

If you're a vendor, heads-up that you can now apply to be part of the market's annual Holiday Food + Artisan Market, set for Dec. 10 and 11, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Find all the details and an application form at the market website.
