Music by the River is back.

The popular outdoor music series is returning to Westminster Pier Park for Thursday nights in August.

Tonight (Aug. 5), local folks can turn out to the park’s festival lawn to enjoy the musical stylings of singer-songwriter Francis Henson.

Bring your own drinks (yes, alcohol is allowed), pack a picnic, or get takeout from a local business or the Eats concession at the park to make an evening of it.

Music by the River runs from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Next Thursday, Aug. 12, audiences can enjoy Scottish indie folk singer-songwriter Dougie Greig. On Aug. 19, the night belongs to the Kaylar Chan Duo, with their genre-blending jazz/R&B/funk/blues/hip hop/classical/pop sounds.

The August series winds up Aug. 26 with Tissa Rahim, an R&B songstress with Middle Eastern flair, accompanied by Alvin Brendan.

Music by the River is presented by the Downtown New West BIA and the City of New Westminster, with support from the Arts Council of New Westminster and Tourism New Westminster.
