PechaKucha New West is returning to in-person events at the Bernie Legge Theatre this month.

What’s happening?

PechaKucha New West is inviting community members to laugh, learn and get inspired from folks who will be sharing their ideas, stories and creations at Volume 29.

Details, please:

After pivoting to online PechaKucha events because of the pandemic, PechaKucha New West is holding its first in-person event since early 2020. Volume 29 is taking place at the Bernie Legge Theatre in Queen’s Park on Saturday, April 30 from 8 to 10 p.m. Doors (and the bar) open at 7 p.m. and the presentations start at 8 p.m.

“Their last in person event was in March 2020, weeks before the global pandemic closed down how people gather,” said a notice about the event. “The New West chapter was the only one in British Columbia that continued presenting events online in 2021. Speakers spoke on everything from making dill pickles, world cuisine, tintype photography, world travel, writing ghost stories, to climbing Mount Everest (while staying in New West).”

Tickets are $10.

“It’s like show and tell for adults,” says a notice about the PechaKucha New West.

Launched in Tokyo in 2003, PechaKucha events are now held in more than 1,200 cities around the world. Speakers will show 20 slides for 20 seconds each – sharing their interests and passions during that 6 minutes and 40 seconds of show and tell.
