The Richmond Ravens will host a contactless bottle drive and 100% of proceeds will be donated to support ice hockey programs.

Richmondites who are looking to support female hockey and get rid of piling up bottles at home will have the chance to do so by joining a fundraising event this weekend.

The Richmond Ravens, a female hockey association for girls age four to 20, will host a contactless bottle drive and 100% of proceeds will be donated to support ice hockey programs. The goal is to raise $5,000 in total for the Richmond Ravens.

Donors are welcome to bring cans, bottles and any refundable containers to the east parking lot at Richmond Ice Centre and drop off their stuff there. The drive will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

According to Natalie Korenic, the Ravens marketing coordinator, their association used to hold two tournaments each year, the Rep Classic and the Ice Classic, which play a vital role in generating revenue for their club. However, both tournaments got cancelled due to the pandemic.

In addition, the Ravens will also host a skate-a-thon event in the next few days. Players will gather pledges and then during one of their practice times from Feb. 20 to 27, they will see how many laps they can do.
