The doors to London Drugs in Westminster Centre have reopened but some departments are still closed following a March 11 fire in the HVAC system.

A week after a fire in the HVAC system at London Drugs in New Westminster, some departments are back in business.

In a statement provided to the Record late Friday afternoon, London Drugs stated the following departments are fully open to the public: pharmacy; cosmetics; tech; insurance services; housewares; and PhotoLab. Areas in the Westminster Centre store still waiting to reopen are the promotional products, food, and health and beauty aids areas.

The store had been closed for a week, after a fire in the store’s heating and air conditioning unit about 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 11. After reopening in the following morning, staff found “noticeable particulate” in the store and decided to close temporarily for a detailed clean.
