Love the arts community in New Westminster? Have some time to lend a hand? The Arts Council of New Westminster is looking for volunteers to help out with a number of upcoming events.

The Anvil Centre is celebrating its fifth anniversary and marking Culture Days on Saturday, Sept. 28 with a day of arts and cultural fun. Oh, and there's birthday cake, too.

Are you an artist looking for a place to share your work? The New Westminster Public Library has issued a call for artists for exhibitions in 2020.

Stage 43 Theatrical Society is getting ready to kick off its 2019/20 season with a classic and campy Halloween horror. The Creature Creeps!, written by Jack Sharkey, is onstage at the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam from Oct. 17 to 26.

Triple threats of New West, take note. Royal City Musical Theatre is holding auditions for its spring production of Crazy For You , coming April 9 to 26 to Massey Theatre.

Patrick Street Productions is bringing the one-person musical Herringbone to the stage at Anvil Centre - with a male performer and a female performer on alternate nights. Check it out starting Sept. 24.

The Vagabond Players is opening the season with a production that’s being described as “fabulously sinister.” The theatre company is staging Tim Kelly’s Terror by Gaslight , onstage at the Bernie Legge Theatre Oct. 5 to 26.

Islands are in David Haughton’s blood. The New Westminster artist is showing his work in Island Paintings: Landscapes of British Columbia, running Sept. 12 to 25 at the Visual Space Gallery in Vancouver.

Is there a young singer in your household? Vivo Children’s Choir marks its 17 th season this year, and new singers are being invited to join. New registrations are welcome throughout September.
