A New Westminster composer has been honoured with a Western Canadian Music Award. John Oliver won the Classical Composition of the Year honour for his orchestral composition Forging Utopia. In a press release, Oliver said he is "elated" by the win.

Friday, November 1 Artisan Crafts for Africa, 4 to 8 p.m. at the CAW Hall, 326 12th St., New Westminster, proceeds to Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign of the Stephen Lewis Foundation.

It's described as "Shakespeare unhinged," and it's coming to the stage at Douglas College. The college's theatre and stagecraft & event technology departments are putting on a retooled version of Shakespeare's Macbeth, A Macbeth, by Charles Marowitz.
