Calling all musicians. The Arts Council of New Westminster is looking for performers to take part in its summer music programs, and applications are now open. Established and emerging artists are invited to perform.

Are you an artist with work to share? Artists in the Boro is accepting applications from emerging and established artists who’d like to show work in the Art in the Atrium gallery space at Queensborough Community Centre.

A New Westminster actor is stepping into the spotlight as one of the fictional world’s best-known antagonists. Katherine Morris is featured as Nurse Ratched in the Stage 43 Theatrical Society production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

Music fans will want to take note of a couple of upcoming Music at Queens concerts. The concert series continues on Saturday, April 27 with Bells and Cream Tea, a concert featuring the Queens Avenue United Church Memorial Bell Ringers.

Love poetry? The Cat Musings open mic is marking National Poetry Month with an all-poetry session at the New West Artists Gallery (712C 12 th St.). It’s set for Wednesday, April 17 from 7 to 9 p.m., and doors will open at 6:30 p.m.

If you’re a fan of the short story genre, you’ll want to check out this reading series. The Royal City Literary Arts Society offers an ongoing series, Tellers of Short Tales, that focuses on short stories.
