1. Visit with the critters at the Queen’s Park petting farm before they depart for their winter homes. The petting farm, which is the summer home to goats, pigs, rabbits and other animals, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. until Sept. 4.

Bat boxes will be installed along the Fraser River as part of the seventh annual shoreline cleanup in Queensborough.

Dance for Fun community barbecue, open house and dance

Pooches and their people are bound to have a dog-gone good time at Doggy Fun Day. The 18th annual Doggy Fun Day is taking place on Sunday, Aug. 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Queen’s Park.

Royal City Community Church is inviting community members to enjoy an afternoon of fun at the Last Blast of Summer. The event is on Saturday, Sept. 2 from noon to 3 p.m. on the grounds of Royal City Community Church, 601 Eighth Ave.

Saturday, Aug. 19 HUB Cycling free cycling course for New Westminster students and their families, 9 a.m. to noon, Connaught Heights Elementary School, aimed at Grade 3 to 5 students.
