The New Westminster Heritage Preservation Society wants your help in creating a tour you won't want to miss.

It is Thanksgiving weekend. Do you know where your veggies are? More to the point, do you know where they came from? As you prepare your table for a gathering this weekend, be aware of what you might find in your garden.

Volunteers are needed in New West to help drive patients to cancer treatments. In the past year, Volunteer Cancer Drivers have provided 429 rides for New West patients who are travelling to and home from cancer clinics in Surrey and Abbotsford.

Lord Kelvin Elementary students are on their way to raising more than $700 for the Terry Fox Foundation.

Love all things handmade? New West Craft is returning to River Market for two events this month.

1. Make apple cider with your neighbours at the New West Apple Press Fest on Saturday, Oct. 6 from noon to 4 p.m. at Lord Kelvin Elementary School, 1010 Hamilton St. Bring a jar for juice, and apples if you have them.

The Poppy Project is getting set to bloom once again in New Westminster.

Wine may grow in value with age, but as I age I appreciate more the value in all things. The celebration of Thanksgiving has become more meaningful with each passing year. It is the holiday with attitude – a decidedly positive one.
