Century House is on the hunt for seniors who want to help their peers embrace technology.
The Century House Association and the City of New Westminster are looking for people who are 50 years and up and want to present programs to Century House members and older adults in the community.
The Seniors Embracing Technology initiative has opportunities for seniors to deliver programs in the following areas:
* Technology – programs that are specifically focused on a type of technology.
* Video Production – a program that is focused on digital editing with an affordable, easy-to-use video software program.
* Photography – a program that is focused on affordable and easy-to-use photography software and would include photo collection management.
* Webinar – researching, preparing and implementing a webinar for seniors in the community.
* Technology special event leader – focusing on a special event that is based on technology.
* Online program facilitator – programs that are delivered online in any topic area.
* Cyber security community campaign leader – workshops focused on educating seniors in the community, including the development of a cyber-security, hard-copy postcard.
Shelly Schnee, the city’s program coordinator for seniors, said projects will be ongoing but the deadline to complete the work is March 31, 2022. Programs can start and finish at any time within the next year.
People who are selected to lead any of these areas will be provided with support to plan and implement their program. Honorariums will be provided to selected leaders, instructors and facilitators.
“The commitment for each individual project will vary; programs are expected to be between five and six weeks, one time a week, two hours per session,” said the notice. “General interest programs of a shorter length will also be considered for an adjusted honorarium.”
People who are interested in leading programs are asked to submit a one-page summary that includes their name and contact information, chosen category, a project outline, expected timeline, an outline of their qualifications and their availability. Questions and submissions should be sent to Shelly Schnee at [email protected].
