Fraser River Discovery Centre is celebrating the many different plants in the Fraser River watershed at its next Super Saturday.
The Super Saturdays program that’s taking place on Saturday, May 29 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. will focus on the diversity of plants in the Fraser River basin.
“The Fraser watershed is filled with vibrant plant-life of all shapes and sizes and many of them are very important to the ecosystems they inhabit,” said Stephen Bruyneel, FRDC’s director, external relations and development. “As we approach the summer months, join us as we take inspiration from these real-life examples to create your own ideal plant designs, and think of ways we can protect plant life in our communities.”
Fraser River Discovery Centre staff will help guests learn about some of the native plants that thrive in the Fraser River basin, including salmonberries, fireweed and devil’s club. Visitors will also be able to use colourful pieces of felt to design their very own plan, and to add their voices to FRDC’s ‘wishing tree’ community project.
“There will be fun for the whole family,” Bruyneel said in a news release. “And like all of our activities, it will also be safe, as all activities are consistent with our COVID health and safety plan, including the need to pre-register, limited numbers, timed visits, social distancing and frequent cleaning.”
Super Saturdays are free with admission to the galleries, but you need to pre-register.
Located at 788 Quayside Dr., Fraser River Discovery Centre provides a variety of exhibits, programs and activities related to the Fraser River.
