Quit getting mired in the search for perfection and find your way to fun again. The Royal City Literary Arts Society is offering a workshop for writers this weekend.

Perfect is the enemy of the good, as the saying goes – and the Royal City Literary Arts Society is working to give local writers some help overcoming perfectionism.

The society is holding a writing workshop this Saturday, Nov. 17 from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Room 413A at the Anvil Centre, 777 Columbia St.

Tatiana A. Bobko will lead the workshop Developing Creativity by Playing (and Ending the Battle with Perfectionism).

“If the biggest killer of creativity is perfection, then it all starts when we open our minds and hearts, start playing and experiment without expectation and let go of control of how things will turn out,” says a write-up about the workshop.

Bobko will lead creativity exercises to help participants open their minds and spark their imaginations and provide some tools and tricks for overcoming procrastinating, accepting your limitations and learning to play.

“Writing and creating anything is supposed to be fun, so let’s make it so,” the write-up says.

The workshop is $15 for RCLAS members, $25 for non-members. Email [email protected] to pre-register, or see www.rclas.com for details.
