Art lovers, mark your calendars for the next exhibition at the Gallery at Queen’s Park.

Mardell Rampton’s textile designs are featured in the new show Water’s Edge, running from Nov. 6 to 24. An opening reception is set for Wednesday, Nov. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m., and an artist talk is set for Sunday, Nov. 17 from 3 to 4 p.m.

An artist’s statement notes that the works grow from time spent on the sea with her family in childhood, including the wild beaches of the West Coast of Vancouver Island and the weathered totems in abandoned First Nations villages along the B.C. coastline.

“Let the qualities of nature wash away the jagged edges of stress and intensity,” says the artist’s statement. “Bask in the brilliant blue of a coastal summer day, or float gently in the peaceful grays and muted tones of a drizzly damp day.”

The Gallery at Queen’s Park is in Centennial Lodge. It’s open Wednesdays from 1 to 8 p.m., and Thursdays through Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m. See www.acnw.ca or call 604-525-3244 for information.
