Tell us about yourself. (100 words)

I was raised in Saskatchewan. We practical idealists wanted basic hospital insurance and rural electricity, local car insurance and telephones to lower farm costs. We got Arthur Swallow. Surprisingly elected MLA for Melville in the first socialist CCF government. Our next-door neighbour in Theodore, Sask. – the Swallows moved to Yorkton when Arthur became MP in Ottawa for Yorkton Melville riding. The family left for B.C. after the second war. We left behind another world, another time, another place, still believing in the common good.
