An École Glenbrook Middle School father is latest candidate to announce his run for school board.

Glen Armstrong, who works as a vice-principal at a private school in Richmond, says he wants to “broaden the definition of school success and ensure that we are providing students with the education they need for their long-term success.”

“I believe that I have the passion, commitment and experience required to implement a fresh new vision for this district,” Armstrong wrote in a media release. “My plan is to strengthen our public schools by improving communication between the district and the community, focusing on student achievement and well-being and voicing the concerns of parents, students and supporters of the board.”

Armstrong has a decade of teaching and high school administrative experience in international schools, he wrote.

Meanwhile, another school board candidate has also recently filed his nominated papers to run for the school board. Victoria Hill resident Cort Ray Caldwell works as a new media consultant, as well as a member of a team providing security, backup and classroom management software to schools and libraries, according to his website page, votecort.ca.

“Imagine a local government that included school trustees not mired in the dysfunction of the past,” Caldwell’s webpage says. “Imagine a faithfully independent trustee, who will stand up for the community values we must cherish and maintain for the children.”
