Political experience (I.e.: how long have you been in office?): I have not been elected to office yet, but have plenty of political experience working as a citizen advocate.
Why are you running? It is clear citizens of New Westminster required another option. The two incumbent candidates offer little in the way of difference having served on council collectively for 21 years. Its was also clear support from a small group identified as the District Labour Council/NDP has for too long influenced the outcome of local elections. The withdrawal of their support from an incumbent Mayor after 12 years and subsequent endorsement of a city councilor running for Mayor was a wake up call. While these groups fight it out, issues like transportation, development, coal, trains and property taxes are not being adequately addressed. I believe it is time to reboot city hall, elect a new Mayor and several independent candidates on council, will provide balance with a fresh approach on issues affecting our city.
