NWSS has notified the school community of COVID-19 exposures on March 11 and 12.

Two new COVID-19 exposure dates have been reported at New Westminster Secondary School.

Early Thursday evening, NWSS sent out a school notification letter that was issued on behalf of Fraser Health. It stated a member of the NWSS community who tested positive for COVID-19 had attended school on March 11 and 12 - the last days of class before spring break.

The latest NWSS exposure notice, posted on Fraser Health’s website on Friday, March 19, wraps up a week that included several exposure notices at local schools prior to spring break.

The New Westminster school district is on spring break from March 15 to 26, but notifications about any exposures that may have occurred leading up to the break are still being sent to school communities and are being posted on the Fraser Health website.

On the first day of spring break, Fraser Health’s exposure website listed new exposure notices at three New West schools – Ecole Qayqayt Elementary, New Westminster Secondary and Queen Elizabeth Elementary. The exposure dates for all three schools were on March 8 and 9.

A day later, Fraser Health’s website listed exposure events at Fraser River Middle School on March 2, 3, 4 and 5.
