Four new COVID-19 exposure dates are being reported in Fraser Health's Dec. 22 schools update.

School may be out of session for winter break but new COVID exposures are still being reported in New West.

Fraser Heath is reporting four new exposure dates at New Westminster Secondary School. No new exposures have been reported at elementary schools.

According to the Dec. 22 update on Fraser Health’s schools website, a COVID-19 exposure occurred at New Westminster Secondary School on Dec. 8, 14, 15 and 17. On Monday afternoon, the school emailed parents, on behalf of Fraser Health, to provide notification that a member of the NWSS community has tested positive for COVID-19 and had attended school on Dec. 7, 8, 14, 15 and 17.

In addition to NWSS, St. Thomas More Collegiate, located just across the border in Burnaby, is another new addition to the Dec. 22 exposure list. It’s reporting exposures on Dec. 14, 15, 16 and 17.

According to Fraser Health, an “exposure” is listed after a person testing positive for COVID-19 was in the school during their potentially infectious period. COVID-19 notifications are removed from the website after the 14-day incubation period has passed from date of exposure and the risk of transmission has passed.

The Dec. 22 list also includes previously-reported exposures at FW Howay Elementary (Dec. 8 and 9); Queen Elizabeth Elementary School (Dec. 8 and 9); Queensborough Middle School (Dec. 8 and 9); and Purpose Independent Secondary (Dec. 10, 14, 15 and 16.)
