Anyone with questions about COVID-19 immunizations for youth is invited to attend a townhall with Fraser Health officials this week.
The virtual townhall is set for Thursday, June 3 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Parents, caregivers and youth will hear from a panel of experts including Dr. Elizabeth Brodkin, chief medical health officer; Dr. Sinha, pediatrician; and Alison Everett, child life specialist. They’ll discuss vaccine safety and effectiveness and cover what to expect and how to prepare your child for their vaccine appointment.
Vaccination in B.C. is now open for children aged 12 to 17 (those born in 2009 or earlier, including those who have not yet reached their 12th birthday).
To get vaccinated, children need to register in one of three ways: online at gov.bc.ca/getvaccinated, by phone through the provincial call centre at 1-833-838-2323, or in person at the nearest Service BC location.
Registration will require the child’s personal health number (if you don’t have a health number, call the provincial call centre) and an email or phone number so that you can be contacted when booking is available.
Children can be booked for separate vaccine appointments or, if an adult household member is going to a vaccine appointment, they can take eligible children along.
