Fraser Health shutters restaurant on Burnaby border for 10 days due to COVID-19

Fraser Health has shuttered multiple businesses as part of a provincial push to target the transmission of COVID-19 at workplaces.

And one is a beloved restaurant right on the Burnaby border.

Joey Coquitlam at 550 Lougheed Highway has been closed for 10 days as of April 12, according to the Fraser Health listing.

The closures come a week after provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said health authorities would start to disclose the names of workplaces where three or more people have COVID-19 and transmission is likely to have occurred.

The move is meant to stop the spread of COVID-19 in viral hot spots, eventually limiting community transmission.

“By using targeted worksite closures around current cases of COVID-19, we may be able to avoid or delay broader workplace closure measures, which could close entire business sectors,” notes Fraser Health on its website.
